Personal Development for College and Young Professionals:

Here’s a truth for you: Entering college and starting a new career is simultaneously exciting and daunting at the same time. Some people enter these phases with a dream so their task is to make it a reality; while others don’t know what they want to do yet, so their task is to uncover that and create a plan from there. You will find there will be times where you are:

  • Overwhelmed by all you have to do
  • Concerned by the amount of choices you need to make to know which direction to go
  • Not sure you can keep up with the workload
  • Unclear how to be resourceful in a new environment
  • Resistant to ask for help and guidance
  • Left feeling like you are all alone

The good news for you is that you don’t have to go it alone. I’m here for you. I function much like an athletic coach partnering with you to discover your processing style, skills, and areas of development to give you greater confidence as you navigate this new chapter of your life. Here’s another truth for you: Its time for you celebrate you – yes, that means the part of you that doesn’t fit societal norms, doesn’t fit in a box or doesn’t look the way others think it should. Stop trying to fit in and let the real you come out.  Now is the time to experiment and explore what works best for you. Enjoy the ride and be grateful for your uniqueness and spark, it’s what makes the world and life a more interesting place. If you color outside the lines learn to color outside the lines really well.

Purpose, plan, and destination are the guiding tools to towards action. As a coach, I encourage self-discovery, offer strategic guidelines and tools so you can proceed effectively towards the attainment of the chosen goal. Some of the tools are:

  • Seeing and understanding time
  • Working with one’s processing style
  • Realistic view of the task at hand
  • Self-care and self-monitoring of behaviors
  • Prioritization
  • Above all honesty and accountability
